About Us:

1st Goring Scout Group began in the early 1900’s, although the Group did close down for a time, reopening in 1952. Our numbers have grown steadily over the years and today we are one of the largest Scout Groups in Worthing with over 150 young people and 30 regular Leaders and helpers. We have two Beaver Colonies to start the age ranges (6-8’s), two Cub Scout Packs (8-10 1/2), two Scout Troops (10 1/2-14) and an Explorer Scout Unit (14-18). All our sections contain both sexes, and we very much encourage girls to join us. The Group owns the Scout Hall, with maintenance representing a major expense. All the Leaders are unpaid volunteers. The Group has to pay over £35 per year, per member for central and local administration which also covers comprehensive insurance. Apart from the occasional fund raising activity, our income is met by an £11 per month standing order from each member to the Group.

About Scouting :

Scouts is all about fun, challenges and adventure!

We are the UK's biggest mixed youth organisation. We change lives by offering 6- to 25-year-olds fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that we make a positive impact in communities.

Scouts helps children and young adults reach their full potential. Scouts develop skills including teamwork, time management, leadership, initiative, planning, communication, self-motivation, cultural awareness and commitment. We help young people to get jobs, save lives and even change the world.
