SO, YOU  WANT TO BE A  1ST GROING SCOUT  GROUP SCOUT DO YOU ?

You will probably have moved up from one of the Cub Packs at a recent Going Up ceremony after Church Parade, and you are ready, if a little apprehensively, to join one of the Scout Troops, where you are assured of even greater challenges and fun in Scouting. Your uniform is the long sleeved ‘teal’ coloured shirt, blue activity trousers with the brown Scout belt and school shoes. The Worthing and West Sussex badges can be taken from your Cub Shirt and sewn onto your Scout Shirt, in corresponding positions.

The Troops are divided into Patrols of about six Scouts. Each Patrol has a more experienced Scout to lead it, called a Patrol Leader. This is a position of some responsibility, as he or she will have some input to the Scout Leaders as far as activity planning is concerned.

As you join the Troop, you will be expected to know and understand The Scout Law and Promise. It is also expected that you will do you best to live by the Law and Promise. You will be able to gain a huge variety of badges throughout your time with the Troop, as well as try a range of new activities, like rock climbing or canoeing.

We very much hope that you will want to try many new activities, not just attend weekly meetings, but you will have to take responsibility to listen to the meet times, which will be given to you, or collect the relevant information sheet.
